EdTechReview.in, India’s leading online educational technology platform, has announced a strategic collaboration with Kerala-based Xylem Learning. This partnership will see Physics Wallah invest Rs 500 crore over the next three years to expand its presence in the southern market.

The aim of this collaboration is to bring together the technology and knowledge of both platforms to improve the learning experience of students preparing for JEE and NEET exams in the southern states of India. This includes Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and other surrounding states.

Alakh Pandey, the Founder and CEO of Physics Wallah, expressed his delight at the new partnership: “This partnership with Xylem Learning fills me with immense excitement and pride. Not only does this partnership align with our shared vision of providing quality education to all, but it also propels us closer to our strategic goal of becoming the leading education platform in South India.”

He added: “Over the next three years, we will invest Rs 500 crore to expand the unique Xylem model of Hybrid Learning to other adjoining states. This model is a results-oriented approach that has impressed me, and it will require extensive team building, content development, technological innovation, and the expansion of other categories and hybrid centres. We will also look at mergers and acquisitions in the South.”

Xylem Learning was founded by 26-year-old MBBS graduate Dr Ananthu S with the aim of creating India’s preferred academies of excellence for cracking competitive exams. To achieve this, the platform uses innovative technologies, top-class faculties, one-on-one mentoring, in-house course materials and Q bank, and hybrid classrooms.

Xylem Learning currently offers free classes through its 30 YouTube channels to over three million students, and has more than one lakh paid students across its various online courses and 30,000 students in its offline or hybrid centres located across Kerela’s five districts. It also operates ten tuition centres and a school-integrated program across seven schools, and is in the process of expanding its course categories.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dr Ananthu S said: “We aim to achieve 300 crore revenue with 25% EBITDA in FY-24, up from 150 Crore in FY-23. Alakh Pandey’s vision perfectly aligns with ours, as we are both dedicated to making quality education accessible and affordable for students. By combining our efforts, we can significantly impact the lives of aspiring students preparing for NEET and JEE exams. The principles of affordability, trust, and the democratization of education drive this partnership.”

Physics Wallah, founded by Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari in 2016 as a YouTube channel to coach JEE/ NEET aspirants, has grown into a leading online educational technology platform. It now offers online courses and offline and hybrid coaching through its Vidyapeeth and Pathshalas across India. In June 2022, the company achieved unicorn status after raising $100 million in its first round of funding from WestBridge Capital and GSV Ventures at a valuation of $1.1 billion.

This collaboration between Physics Wallah and Xylem Learning will help to make quality education more accessible and affordable for students in South India. With the power of technology and an experienced team, these two platforms are set to revolutionize the EdTech industry and provide students with the tools they need to succeed.
