EdTechReview.in is proud to report on the launch of CRIIIO 4 GOOD, a new online life skills learning programme created by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and UNICEF. The initiative has been launched with the support of the Indian Ministry of Education, Government of India and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Ahmedabad.
The aim of the programme is to encourage gender equality among boys and girls and celebrate the many ways cricket is played around the world. It also encourages equal participation for young girls and boys. The programme provides 8 sport-for-development modules which have a gender equity theme to raise awareness of the issue and the importance of providing equal opportunities to all.
At the launch event, Smriti Mandhana, India women’s vice-captain shared the initial CRIIIO 4 GOOD learning modules with more than a thousand schoolchildren. The programmes are designed to use cricket’s ability to discuss gender equity and important life skills in an interactive and entertaining way.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education of India, spoke about the alignment of the program to NEP 2020’s focus on gender equality. He also mentioned the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which is a historic move towards women-led development.
CRIIIO 4 GOOD is an 8 part animated film series that promotes gender parity, equips girls with life skills and encourages their participation in sports. The films are available in three languages: English, Hindi and Gujarati and can be accessed free of cost on the official website. These films have been designed to be relatable and real for the audiences, and focus on 8 life skills: Leadership, Problem-solving, Confidence, Decision Making, Negotiation, Empathy, Teamwork, and Goal setting.
This is an important initiative that will help teachers to foster a sense of gender equality and develop life skills in their students. To access the CRIIIO 4 GOOD programme, please visit the official website.
