EdTechReview.in, an education technology blog, is excited to announce the launch of Maker High, a new education initiative from GoldieBlox and Discovery Education. Maker High is an immersive learning experience hosted on the Roblox platform, designed to teach middle and high school students about chemistry.
The experience, titled Chem Lab Escape, immerses students in a virtual escape room in a chemistry lab where they can explore core chemistry concepts such as combining elements and solutions to create chemical reactions, and adding and removing heat energy to water.
The activity is designed to meet Next Generation Science Standards and provides teachers with easy-to-follow instructions and resources for incorporating the experience into any lesson plan.
Debbie Sterling, Founder & CEO of GoldieBlox, commented on the collaboration:
“GoldieBlox has a decade of experience making STEM fun and inclusive, especially for girls traditionally excluded from STEM fields. With Maker High, we’re empowering students to understand and master STEM concepts in an enjoyable way. We hope that teachers and students come back to play again and again to build upon their STEM skills.”
Roblox Community Fund (RCF) supports the initiative by providing grants to educational organisations and developers to create innovative learning experiences and curricula that leverage the platform.
Amy Nakamoto, General Manager of Social Impact of Discovery Education, also commented:
“Game-based learning is an effective teaching tool, and we are proud to collaborate with GoldieBlox to bring chemistry to life through Maker High on Roblox. Discovery Education helps educators deliver equitable learning experiences that engage all students and support higher academic achievement globally through its award-winning multimedia content, instructional supports, innovative classroom tools, and social impact programmes.”
We are excited to see how Maker High will revolutionize STEM education and help students to explore and master chemistry concepts in an enjoyable and engaging way.
