Educational technology is changing the way we teach and learn, and Kortext is leading the way. Founded in 2013, Kortex is a leading provider of educational technology solutions for higher education. This month, the company announced an undisclosed funding round from HSBC UK, enabling them to continue driving digital transformation in universities across the UK and beyond.

Kortex works with over 4,500 universities worldwide, providing over 2 million digital books to students in 80 countries. Their platform focuses on learner analytics to support student retention, engagement, continuation and successful outcomes. With this new funding, they plan to invest in AI technologies to further revolutionise teaching and personalised learning, as well as fostering engagement and enhancing student well-being.

Speaking about the funding, Chief Executive Officer of Kortext, James Gray, said: “This endorsement of Kortext reinforces our position as an edtech sector leader. We are committed to partnering with universities to transform teaching and learning and leverage data to enhance student engagement and outcomes. Our platform enables and enriches higher education, and we are looking forward to working with the HSBC team to reach even more students.”

As well as providing innovative technology solutions, Kortext works closely with universities to offer paid part-time, full-time and holiday internships and placements to talented third and final-year students and recent graduates. This is a great opportunity to develop and gain invaluable experience in the edtech sector.

Roland Emmans, Head of UK Technology Sector & Growth Lending, HSBC UK, commented: “We are delighted to be working with a company as innovative as Kortext. Our Growth Lending Fund is designed for businesses who want to become global tech players, and HSBC UK is committed to helping high-growth scale-up tech customers as the go-to bank for internationally focused, UK-based tech firms.”

Kortext is well-positioned to capitalise on new opportunities and deepen its global reach, thanks to HSBC’s strong international presence in markets such as India, Australia, sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

This announcement marks a significant progression for Kortext in its 10th year and follows their successful Series B funding round in 2021, which helped power their growth. With this new investment, they’re in an even better position to help teachers and learners make the most of edtech and excel in their studies.
