EdtechReview.in is excited to announce the launch of Loora, a generative AI English language learning platform, which has raised a $9.25 million seed round led by lead investor Emerge. Two Lanterns Venture Partners and Kaedan Capital also participated in the funding round, which was also backed by angel investors Zohar Gilon and Amit Gilon, and several founders from technology companies Lightricks and ironSource.
With the funds, Loora plans to further research and develop its generative AI capabilities, improve its product, expand its team of AI researchers and engineers, and ramp up its marketing efforts. Co-founded by Roy Mor and Yonti Levin in late 2020, Loora utilizes the power of generative AI to make English fluency attainable and accessible to everyone.
Headquartered in Tel Aviv, Loora is available through a subscription model and already has thousands of paid subscribers across the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Its AI is specifically designed to provide every learner with a personalized English learning experience. It offers a natural conversational experience with a native English speaker, with real-time feedback.
For teachers, this means access to an AI tutor that can provide tailored English tuition for their students. With Loora, teachers can help bridge the language gap and give their students the opportunity to master English and access better career opportunities, business, education, or personal lives.
Liad Rubin, General Partner of Emerge, said: “We have been partnering with trailblazing AI companies since 2016, so Loora was a natural fit in our portfolio. In 2020, co-founders Roy Mor and Yonti Levin already recognized the potential of generative AI for language learning. They set out on a mission to harness it for the benefit of society far before the introduction of ChatGPT. General-purpose generative AI models are effective in the execution of generic tasks, but there is a massive advantage in building and training an AI specifically for a domain. This is why Loora envisioned and built their AI tutor to teach English, creating an unparalleled, next-gen solution for virtual English education. We’re excited to be part of this journey.”
At EdtechReview.in, we’re thrilled to see the launch of Loora, and we’re excited to see how this new generative AI English language learning platform can help teachers empower their students with the English skills they need to succeed.
