Design education is evolving, and educational institutions are joining forces to ensure their students receive the best training and prepare them for the global marketplace. The Design Village (TDV) in Noida, India and Esad Arte+ Design (ESAD) in Portugal have come together to foster a bilateral exchange and cooperation.

The collaboration between TDV and ESAD is designed to promote mutual growth and innovation in the academic sector, as well as to further education, research, and cultural exchange. ESAD has been working to train students to develop their capacity to participate and compete nationally and internationally, as well as to promote the expansion of skills at the creative, critical, and technological levels. The platform offers degrees in design and arts, master’s in design, several postgraduate courses, an open training programme, workshops, and summer labs.

Vatsal Agarwal, Associative Dean of Executive Affairs at The Design Village, said: “ESAD stands as a highly prominent design landmark in the South of Europe. We at TDV are ecstatic and encouraged to embark upon the bilateral exchange with them. Portugal has always been a hidden design cradle, and our students could draw diverse inspirations from the new context. We welcome the facilitators and learners from ESAD to our culture and community and jointly develop an ethnographic environment for a design-led impact.”

The bilateral exchange programmes and joint research initiatives will commence in the upcoming academic year, opening up opportunities for the academic communities of both institutions. This agreement will provide teachers with the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge with students from both institutions, exposing them to a variety of different cultures and design approaches.

The collaboration between TDV and ESAD is a great example of how educational institutions can come together to foster exchange and cooperation. This kind of collaboration is essential for the development of the design industry, and it will be exciting to see the outcomes of this collaboration.
