EdTechReview.in is excited to report on the collaboration between Mondelez India and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to empower India’s youth through skill development. The alliance builds on the company’s decade-long commitment to community development through the Shubh Aaramb programme.

Mondelez and NSDC have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide training and job opportunities to 660 young individuals across six unique job roles in the districts of Bhind (Madhya Pradesh) and Pune (Maharashtra). The programme, tailored to the local context and aligned with the needs of the youth in the identified Bhind and Pune locations, will include training modules specifically designed for job roles in IT-ITeS, Management, Logistics, and Tourism & Hospitality. This will include soft skill training, orientation on respective job roles, tools, work methodology, assessment, certification, and job opportunities.

Commenting on the collaboration, Senior Director, India & Lead, AMEA, Corporate & Government Affairs at Mondelez International, Ophira Bhatia said, “We are excited to embark on this transformative journey, enabling young individuals to acquire essential skills and become valuable contributors to our nation’s workforce. This initiative aligns with Mondelez India’s commitment to fostering a brighter future for the communities we serve, and we are excited to see how this transpires for the youth of the country. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than NSDC to help us fulfil this mission.”

Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, added, “Community development programs like the Shubh Aaramb programme enable us to address specific regional needs while aligning local industries with the demands of the job market, thereby stimulating economic growth. By providing skill training to local youth in Bhind and Pune for job roles in sectors like IT-ITeS, Management, Logistics, and Tourism and hospitality, we can significantly enhance their employability and empower them to actively engage in resolving local challenges, instilling a sense of ownership and community pride.”

This initiative is a great example of how EdTech can be used to bridge the gap between industry and academia. By providing skill-oriented training and job opportunities to young individuals, organizations like Mondelez India and NSDC are helping to create a more educated and employable workforce. This type of collaboration can serve as a model for other organizations to follow when looking to empower the youth of India.
