Educators today face a multitude of challenges, from uncertain economic times and tight labour markets to increasing scrutiny on hiring spend and expectations of delivering results with smaller teams and tighter budgets. This is where Datapeople, a SaaS recruiting predictability platform, comes in.

Datapeople offers a unique solution to these challenges by providing recruiters with data-backed objectivity, efficiency and predictability in talent acquisition. It does this with the help of natural language processing, data science, responsible AI and behavioural science to generate accessible metrics and actionable insights.

The New York-based startup recently raised $13 million in its Series A round, led by GreatPoint Ventures and New Markets Venture Partners, with the participation of existing investors including First Round Capital, NextView Ventures and Uncork Capital, as well as syndicates Gaingels and FOG Ventures. The funding will go towards scaling up their go-to-market function and accelerating the delivery of new features and products.

Since its launch in 2015, over 10,000 users have edited 170,000 job posts in the Datapeople platform, and the firm boasts customers in 80 countries. These include some of the world’s leading organizations such as DoorDash, Givaudan and Dentsu North America.

Datapeople’s Job Score helps educational institutions understand how their job postings will perform in the local market. It measures candidate pool volume, quality and diversity, while also providing guidance on avoiding eight forms of bias, including racism, tokenism, ableism, ageism, sexism, nationalism and religious bias.

Commenting on the investment, Associate Partner of GreatPoint Ventures, David Resnekov, said: “Hiring teams today are under pressure to efficiently drive and sustain growth with talent, which is exactly where Datapeople is impacting its customers. We invested in Datapeople because they’re solving a major problem by giving recruiting leaders intelligence and control throughout the hiring process, starting with the job description.”

Robb Doub, Co-founder & General Partner of New Markets Venture Partners, added: “What excited us about Datapeople was hearing from their customers, including some of the world’s largest brands, on the impact and ROI that Datapeople has delivered to their recruiting efforts. Datapeople has been able to achieve impressive traction while also delivering on a promise of a more equitable future, which convinced us to be part of this journey.”

Educational institutions are increasingly recognizing the value of data-informed recruiting processes to ensure fairness and efficiency. With Datapeople’s platform, they can ground their hiring decisions in science and bring predictability to talent acquisition.
