Education Technology helps bridge the educational divide in India and the Ministry of Education and IIT-Kanpur have taken a major leap in this regard with the launch of SATHEE, an innovative online education platform. Aimed at helping students across the nation prepare for competitive exams such as NEET and JEE, SATHEE provides a comprehensive suite of resources and features.
K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, introduced the platform at a launch event at Shashtri Bhawan on Tuesday. This comprehensive platform offers video lectures from renowned IIT and IISc faculty, intensive 45-day JEE crash course, interactive chatbot, and regular doubt-clearing sessions by students from IITs and AIIMS.
The platform is designed to ensure no student is left behind due to language barriers, offering content in English, Hindi, and various Indian regional languages. It also hosts mock tests every weekend, which have the same look and feel as those conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
As per the Ministry of Education officials, about 5,000 students from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have already registered on SATHEE. The aim is to reach 1,00,000 students.
Speaking about the initiative, Officiating Director, IIT Kanpur, Prof. S. Ganesh stated, “The outreach of SATHEE marks a significant step towards enhancing accessibility to education in India. This platform opens up new avenues for students preparing for competitive exams, offering quality resources and support. Our goal is to ensure that every student, irrespective of their location or financial situation, has the opportunity to excel in their academic pursuits. SATHEE is a testament to our commitment to educational equity and excellence.”
SATHEE is more than just a learning platform; it stands as a movement for equal educational opportunities for all. It provides quality education in an accessible format, challenging the monopolization of competitive exam preparation by private classes, which many people cannot afford or access due to distance. With SATHEE, millions of students, particularly those in rural areas and those with limited financial resources, can now better prepare for their future.
