Motrix, an educational technology company based in Brazil, has recently received a contribution of $2.9 million from Grupo Ágathos. This investment is a combination of both financial and non-financial support, with $1.8 million in direct financial support and $1.1 million in non-financial contributions.
The purpose of this funding is to expand Motrix’s development team and create a pilot project for public elementary schools in Brazil. This project ensures that teachers have access to a platform with customizable content, allowing them to provide students with personalized education and real-time monitoring of learning performance.
Founded in 2021, Motrix Techknowledge is dedicated to supporting hybrid K12 schools by developing a social learning solution that promotes an evidence-based approach to learning. Their headquarters are based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and their goal is for schools to have control over their teaching and learning processes. This control allows them to adjust their pedagogical solutions to fit the reality of their students, and encourages teachers to use evaluation solutions to act precise, practical, and efficient.
Commenting on the investment, Motrix’s Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Schneider said “The investment brings together a company with experience in education and an innovative startup, intending to develop tools and materials aligned with the needs of Brazilian schools. The intention is to train teachers to offer the best-personalized education to students, overcoming the limitations of textbooks and allowing greater flexibility in content.”
Motrix has also created a tool for curriculum design. This software allows for the incorporation of pedagogical solutions, creating a common language between various learning solutions. Motrix’s Director of Learning, Patricia Ferreira, expressed her thoughts on the contribution, saying “Today, schools receive teaching materials with well-defined themes and activities without considering the particularities of each institution and its students. With this contribution, Motrix gains speed in constructing the platform to guarantee flexible content delivery to the reality of each educational institution and its students. In this way, it will be possible to monitor learning performance in real-time and include developing other skills such as active methodologies, projects, interdisciplinarity and much more.”
Grupo Ágathos Educacional’s CEO, Maria Fernanda Tabacow, spoke on the company’s goals, saying “Our purpose in doing business with Motrix was very much based on the DNA of the three founders of the Ágathos Group, who always wanted to do things for education and education. Being successful from a professional and financial point of view has always been a consequence. They never looked at education without thinking of a way to contribute positively. And that’s the legacy we want to carry forward with Motrix. To contribute in a relevant, assertive manner that changes the education game in our country to take Brazil out of the chapter in which it is trapped in the 17th century, with the first industrial revolution, and we are now in the fourth. Believing that this will be positive through this project is what encourages us.”
The Ágathos Group was founded in 1973 and is one of Brazil’s biggest educational institutions, with 11 educational institutions, including a university, in its portfolio. Motrix hopes to finish its platform by 2024 and make it available to the public in 2025.
The recent contribution to Motrix is a promising step towards providing teachers with the tools to offer personalized education to their students. By creating a platform that allows teachers to monitor learning performance in real-time and offer flexible content, Motrix is paving the way for a successful future of educational technology.
