EdTechReview.in is proud to announce the collaboration between South Korean educational technology company, Riiid, and ALC, a premier brand in the Japanese language education industry. This partnership aims to bring Riiid’s popular TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) learning platform, “Santa,” to Japan.

Riiid’s cutting-edge AI technology, ALC’s strong brand reputation and its well-established TOEIC-related content will be leveraged to capture a commanding share of Japan’s burgeoning TOEIC market.

Santa, launched by Riiid in 2017, is an AI-enabled TOEIC learning platform that has already gained significant traction in Asian markets. It has accumulated 5 million downloads across Korea, Japan and Taiwan, with over a million downloads just in Japan last year, making it the most downloaded TOEIC-related application.

Japan’s TOEIC market is similar to Korea’s, with about 3 million test takers each year. Individual education spending in Japan is double that of Korea, showing a market worth 100 billion yen ($720 million) annually.

ALC has enjoyed considerable recognition and steady growth in the language learning industry for the past fifty years, with annual revenue hitting $46 million from its foreign language textbooks and educational services. Riiid’s mission is to provide learners with new possibilities to reach their goals through a data-driven, scientific approach. In 2021, Riiid raised $175 million in a funding round led by SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2.

This partnership between Riiid and ALC will provide teachers with a reliable, easy-to-use platform to support their students in their TOEIC preparation. With the combined power of AI technology, a well-established brand, and top-notch content, the collaboration between Riiid and ALC will make the TOEIC preparation process easier and more effective for both teachers and students.
