Educators have a powerful new tool at their disposal to help their students gain skills in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML/AI). EdX, a leading global online learning platform from 2U, Inc., has partnered with 12 top universities to launch a groundbreaking Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence MicroBootCamp program.

Designed to quickly equip technology professionals with the core skills they need to excel in ML/AI, the intensive 10-week online program focuses on supervised and unsupervised machine learning, neural networks, natural language processing (NLP), and other emerging AI developments. Learners will benefit from interactive lessons that provide real-world context for the concepts and skills, as well as a blend of text, graphics, and video materials.

EdX is joined by Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, Southern Methodist University, The Ohio State University College of Engineering, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Denver, University of Kansas Jayhawk Global, University of Central Florida, University of New Hampshire Professional Development & Training, University of Richmond, and others in offering this program.

The first cohorts will start in July 2023. Prior coding experience in Python is highly recommended. The Machine Learning and AI MicroBootCamp is priced to support employee education benefits, making it an affordable option for educators and their students.

Anant Agarwal, founder of edX & chief platform officer at 2U, Inc., said: “AI and machine learning aren’t just buzzwords; they’re the rocket fuel propelling us into the future. At edX, we’re teaming up with premier universities and industry partners, crafting top-tier, flexible programs that fast-track career readiness. Together, we’re turning learners into leaders in the AI landscape.”

The last six months have seen a massive surge in learners interested in AI-related higher education programs, as evidenced by an 80% increase in searches for ‘artificial intelligence’ on edX.org. To meet this demand, the Machine Learning and AI MicroBootCamp was developed to help professionals build skills that can be immediately translated and applied to current job roles, or used as a foundation for further education and career outcomes.

In addition to the ML/AI program, edX has also released five new ChatGPT open courses that are free to audit. Educators can use these courses to teach their students about utilizing one of the world’s fastest-growing applications.

Founded by Harvard and MIT in 2012, edX aims to make the world’s best education available online. The platform and the world’s leading universities and companies offer thousands of courses, certificates, boot camps, micro-credentials, and degrees. Educators have access to purpose-built online programs in technology, business, healthcare, science, education, social work, sustainability, and more.

EdX has recently introduced two AI-powered innovations: the new edX plugin for ChatGPT and edX Xpert, an AI-powered learning assistant. These tools leverage the technology of AI research and deployment company OpenAI to deliver real-time academic support and course discovery. Such resources are invaluable for educators looking to provide their students with the skills they need to succeed in the ever-evolving world of ML/AI.
