Educational technology can play a critical role in the upskilling of the workforce and in keeping them at the forefront of innovation. This was made evident when SAP Labs India, a subsidiary of the German software corporation SAP, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B).

The MoU aims to promote bilateral knowledge exchange between the academic world and the corporate sector, as well as facilitate joint research projects in related industry fields. This will help ensure that the personnel are up to date with the latest developments in technology, and can contribute to the advancement of the field.

To this effect, SAP Labs India has already initiated executive programmes in collaboration with IIIT-B for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). These programmes have already seen two cohorts of successful students, with a third batch slated for this year.

Sindhu Gangadharan, SVP & MD of SAP Labs India and Head of SAP User Enablement, said, “Our strategic partnership with IIIT-B reflects SAP’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge research and underscores our dedication to nurturing talent and upskilling our workforce. With IIIT-B, we are forging new frontiers in research and innovation while encouraging the next generation of digital leaders.”

Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-B, echoed these sentiments and said, “Continuous upskilling is of utmost importance in the rapidly evolving domain of digital technology. IIIT-B is playing an important role in helping India achieve its target of a $1 trillion digital economy by 2026.”

SAP Labs India has partnerships with several institutions including IIIT-B, PSG Institute of Technology, and others. These associations have enabled deep research and engagement in establishing technical journals and publications.

This initiative by SAP Labs India will be of great help to teachers as it ensures that personnel are well-equipped to contribute to the advancement of educational technology. The partnership with IIIT-B is a step in the right direction to ensure that the technology workforce is future-ready and able to drive innovation while providing delightful customer experiences.
