DIKSHA, the Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing, is India’s national platform for open education digital content and it is now powered by India’s leading telecommunications service provider, Airtel. The Digital India Corporation, which falls under the Ministry of Education, has partnered with Airtel to manage DIKSHA’s online platforms across its mobile app and website.

This collaboration with Airtel will allow students, particularly in far-flung and remote locations, to access free educational content in their preferred Indian language more easily. Airtel Cloud is also leading the migration of DIKSHA to Oracle Cloud and providing managed services and CDN solutions.

Launched in 2017, DIKSHA is focused on improving the standard of living of the commoner by providing access to the benefits emerging from Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The platform offers engaging learning material relevant to the prescribed school curriculum to teachers, students and parents.

Educators across the nation can now access DIKSHA, which currently supports 36 Indian languages. The platform also provides over 5700 crore minutes of learning and has seen an enrolment and course completion rate of 82 per cent.

Praveen Agarwal, head of Government Business at Airtel Business, said: “DIKSHA offers 9300+ courses in 35+ Indian languages and has witnessed 50+ billion learning sessions and 60+ billion minutes of usage by students, making it one of the largest free education platforms in the world. We are thrilled to partner with the Ministry of Education to bolster this crucial education infrastructure and advance its accessibility to millions of children across the country with our state-of-the-art cloud and CDN services.”

The partnership between Airtel and DIKSHA is a major step forward for educational technology in India. By providing access to free educational content in multiple languages, Airtel Cloud is helping bridge the gap between rural and urban areas and allowing more students access to quality education. With the help of the cloud and CDN services, educators across the country can now easily access and use this platform to their advantage.
