EdTech is quickly becoming a major player in the education sector, and FreeWheelin is at the forefront of the revolution. The South Korean educational technology company has recently secured KRW 7 billion (approximately $5.4 million) in its Series B round led by Smilegate Investment and Altos Ventures.

This is the second major funding round for the firm, which was previously backed by Altos Venture and DSC Investment. The capital will be used to further its mission to improve access to education and to expand the capabilities of its product, Math Flat.

Math Flat is a technology-integrated teaching solution designed to provide individualized education in the classroom. It has been adopted by over 300 secondary schools and 5,700 math cram schools. It provides services such as generating homework books, combining services with textbooks, managing mistakes made by students and analyzing their performance data. It also comes with a database of 700,000 math resources which teachers can use without copyright concerns.

Math Flat is a comprehensive platform for educators. It supports custom problems tailored to each student’s academic level and provides resources for managing multiple students. Thanks to its success, FreeWheelin has been recognized as a 2022 Baby Unicorn and a 2023 ICT Global Future Unicorn.

With this new fundraising, the startup plans to expand its capabilities and refine its product offering in line with the increasing prevalence of tablets in education. This should be welcome news for teachers looking for an easy-to-use and comprehensive solution for their classrooms.
