Educational technology has taken a major leap forward with the introduction of MacHub, an innovative online platform that is set to revolutionize the student experience at McMaster University.
Designed to provide students with quick access to essential university websites, such as course enrolment and academic advising, MacHub is the result of an extensive stakeholder engagement process that identified the need for a Campus Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
Sean Van Koughnett, Associate Vice-President (students and learning) and dean of Students at McMaster University, spoke of the importance of taking a student-centred approach to support and programs: “MacHub will help simplify finding the information and resources students need in order to succeed.”
MacHub is set to bring a host of benefits to the McMaster community. Not only will it improve the student experience, but it will also streamline administrative operations and improve operational performance. To ensure the platform is constantly evolving and responding to the changing needs of students and staff, users are encouraged to provide feedback, suggestions, and ideas to enhance the platform in future releases.
Gayleen Gray, Assistant Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer at McMaster University, spoke of the importance of creating transformative information technologies that provide delightful experiences to the community: “MacHub is one example of our efforts to provide a more personalized, seamless and connected experience for McMaster students and the dedicated employees who serve them.”
McMaster University is committed to providing its students with a range of learning opportunities, partnerships and teaching and learning scholarships. Through internships, co-op, academic placements, career-planning courses and workshops, students are able to gain practical experience linked to their education and career goals. More than 100 courses across the Faculties of Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities, Science and Social Sciences support these hands-on student experiences.
