Educators are always looking for ways to improve their students’ mental health and wellbeing. To that end, a healthtech platform called Oliva has raised $5.4 million to help teachers and schools provide specialist, on-demand mental health and wellbeing support to their students.
Co-founded in 2020 by Javier Suarez and Sançar Sahin, Oliva works closely with educators to create and launch successful strategies for improving the mental health of their students. With the platform, teachers can access a wide array of evidence-based psychological interventions for individual students, such as on-demand therapy and coaching, group workshops, personalised self-guided content, and exclusive talks. The platform is currently available in 14 languages and has been used in over 27 countries worldwide.
The latest investment comes from Molten Ventures, with participation from existing investors Stride VC and new backers Alumni Ventures and angels including Kieran Flanagan. Oliva plans to use the funds to expand its network of 250 specialist therapists, launch in new markets, including more US states, and introduce new languages, such as Croatian, Serbian and Dutch.
Oliva also plans to launch an app, so students can access the platform from wherever they are. The app will feature AI functionality to enhance the human-led service, such as automating note-taking so therapists can focus on care.
Javier Suarez, Co-founder & CEO of Oliva, said: “We offer evidence-led, human-centric support strategies tailored to their needs. We’re grateful for the trust and support our investors have shown us so far, allowing us to continue making strides, and look forward to accelerating that with our new and existing investors.”
Dr Inga Deakin, Principal of Molten Ventures, added: “We can expand access to mental health support and early intervention beyond the usual structures of healthcare systems. Molten is proud to back the team at Oliva. They are world-class repeat entrepreneurs with the experience and capabilities to tackle challenges around mental health and provide a method to help many people worldwide.”
With Oliva, teachers and schools can make sure their students have access to the mental health support they need. The platform helps to unlock evidence-based psychological interventions that can help students tackle issues such as anxiety, burnout, or depression. The funding will allow Oliva to expand its reach, so more students can benefit from this invaluable service.
