The role of education technology in the Middle East is becoming increasingly important as local startups, such as Baims, are leading the way in providing digital education to students across the region. Zain, the pioneering mobile telecommunications provider, has recently announced a strategic partnership with Baims to empower the digitalization of the local education sector and expand the youth’s digital upskilling and literacy.

The partnership was sealed at the Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC) in the company’s headquarters in Shuwaikh. The agreement was attended by Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer Waleed Al-Khashti, Baims co-founder and CEO Yousef Al-Hussaini, and Zain’s Marketing and Innovation & Entrepreneurship teams.

Founded in 2017, Baims is a Kuwait-based digital e-learning platform which provides virtual courses to both high school and university students in five Middle Eastern countries. The platform offers students the opportunity to learn independently with video lectures, notes, live sessions, and quizzes on the web and mobile devices at a fraction of today’s cost, making high-quality education accessible to everyone.

The collaboration between Zain and Baims aims to contribute to the digital academic tools available to students in Kuwait. It also features exclusive offers and discounts to Zain customers on virtual courses and other services offered by Baims through specially tailored packages for the youth. Furthermore, Zain is offering exclusive content on the platform related to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Baims has recorded 30 million views, with 150,000+ active monthly users and 150,000+ recorded video courses on its library. The company is considered one of the top 50 e-learning companies in the MENA region. In May this year, Baims raised $4 million in its Series A round led by AK Holding with participation from Al-Wazzan Educational Group, Rasameel Investment House and other investors.

The partnership between Zain and Baims is an important step in providing access to quality education to students in the Middle East and beyond. This agreement is a testament to Zain’s commitment to supporting local startups and their contribution to the national economy. As teachers, we can use this development to help our students become digitally literate and upskilled.
